The African lion is the second largest cat, after the tiger, and the largest land carnivore in Africa. Its head to tail length can reach up to 2.5 metres, its weight varies between 150 and 250 kilograms. Occasionally they can be even bigger. Males, like the one in this picture have a mane encircling their face, which can reveal the general condition of the animal.
