In a massive restructuring, the Army announced they will slash the number of active duty combat brigades from 45 to 33 as the service moves forward with a plan to cut the size of the service by 80,000. The 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, based at Fort Campbell, Ky., and currently deployed to Afghanistan, is one of those brigades slated to be inactivated by 2017.
