Buildings in the historic centre of Berlin

22 August 2019, Berlin: Old and new buildings on Petriplatz in the Mitte district. Petriplatz was the central square in the medieval town of C'lln near Berlin. After its destruction in the Second World War, it was almost completely destroyed in the 1960s by the redevelopment of the area around Br'derstra'e with the State Council building and the adjacent residential buildings as well as the traffic axis Grunerstra'e - Leipziger Stra'e as a square. An archaeological house with a visitor centre is built here as a new building. Photo by: Wolfgang Kumm/picture-alliance/dpa/AP Images
