Eel stocking in the Gro' Schauener See

Eel stocking in the Gro' Schauener See

20 February 2020, Brandenburg, Gro' Schauen: Frederik Buhrke, head of the fishery K'llnitz, comes out of the shallow water with empty crates that previously contained glass eels. On the same day about 375000 glass eels were released into their new home in the waters of the Gro' Schauener See. The three year old small glass eels have had a long journey, they were caught off the coasts of France. At least 40 percent of them are expected to return to the spawning grounds in the Sargasso Sea in the Gulf of Mexico after 8 to 12 years in inland water.
