Forest inspection with Federal Forest Commissioner

Forest inspection with Federal Forest Commissioner

28 January 2020, Saxony-Anhalt, Wernigerode: A stump of a felled spruce protrudes from the forest floor on the Armeleuteberg on a clearing area. The trees had died after two years of drought and because of the bark beetle and had been felled. The spruces are now used to produce pulp and wood for pallets. Some of it even goes to China as construction timber. In the city forest of Wernigerode, a forest inspection took place on the edge of the "Forest Generation Dialogue". The organizer was the Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald Bundesverband (SDW). At the conference, young adults will deal with forest issues such as tourism, education or health and discuss the current situation in the forest in connection with drought and insect infestation.
