Researchers investigate methane emissions from cows

22 August 2019, Schleswig-Holstein, Noer: With a measuring instrument on his back, a cow lies on a pasture of the Lindhof experimental farm. The ruminants produce methane, a climate-damaging greenhouse gas. Researchers at the University of Kiel want to reduce methane production by using a mixture of herbs. In return, they tie the livestock to a belt of experimental material. Photo by: Carsten Rehder/picture-alliance/dpa/AP Images
