Summer on the island of Hiddensee

Summer on the island of Hiddensee

11 July 2019, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Kloster: Through a rustic wooden frame set up by artists the view falls on a part of the Baltic Sea island Hiddensee. The lighthouse was built in 1887/1888 as a brick building, has a height of 27.5 metres and a height of 94.7 metres above mean sea level of the Baltic Sea. Thousands of holidaymakers and day guests are counted daily on the island during the summer months. Hiddensee is largely car-free and horse and cart is a widely used means of transport. Hiddensee is about 16.8 kilometres long, at its narrowest point about 250 metres wide and at its widest about 3.7 kilometres wide. Within the National Park Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft it is the largest island. Photo by: Jens B'ttner/picture-alliance/dpa/AP Images
