Syria Rescuing Antiquities

This undated handout photo from Syria's Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums shows a fragment of a 2nd-century mural showing the face of a young man in a helmet. The mural was discovered in 1992 in a sanctuary dedicated to the god Bel in the ancient city of Dura-Europos. It was among tens of thousands of ancient relics and masterpieces rescued from the Deir el-Zour Museum in eastern Syria and brought to safety in Damascus. (DGAM via AP)
