The landmark of Halle is being restored

29 July 2020, Saxony-Anhalt, Halle (Saale): A part of the already restored ceiling can be seen above the main organ in the church room of "Unser Lieben Frauen". The late-Gothic church on the market place in Halle is partially scaffolded up to the ceiling. For about 50 years, it is the first comprehensive renovation and restoration of a listed building to be supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). In addition to the restoration, the historic sacristy is also to be opened to visitors. In a further room there will then be a new presentation of the death mask of Martin Luther. His body was laid out in February 1546 in the Marktkirche, where the reformer had preached a few days earlier. Photo by: Hendrik Schmidt/picture-alliance/dpa/AP Images
