Torrential rain in western Japan

Japan Self-Defence Force officials conduct a search operation at flood-damaged town due to heavy rain in Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture, western Japan, on July 4, 2020. The Kuma River flooded, and the helicopters of the Self-Defence Forces and the Japan Coast Gurd rescued stranded local residents. The landslide and flooding were triggered by a heavy rain, and Japan Meteorological Agency issued a heavy rain emergency warning. According to the local government, at least 3 people died, 14 went into cardiopulmonary arrest, 20 are still missing, and two hundred thousand people have been given out directives on the evacuation.
