Lindbergh Case

Col. Charles A. Lindbergh, who offered to stay away from the trial of Bruno Richard Hauptmann, saying his presence might influence the jury in the trial of the man accused of kidnapping and killing the Lindbergh baby, steps out of a car, Jan. 21, 1935. Prosecution officials decided Col. Lindbergh's presence and advice were necessary, however, and he arrived at the courthouse in Flemington, New Jersey to attend the opening of the fourth week of Hauptmann’s trial. (AP Photo)
