Joseph McCarthy Petition

Volunteer workers use adding machines to tabulate signatures obtained in a nationwide drive opposing the censure of Sen. Joseph R. McCarthy (R-Wisconsin) at the New York City office of "10 Million Americans Mobilizing for Justice" at the Hotel Roosevelt, Nov. 26, 1954. A New York accounting firm was called in by the group to supervises the counting on the petitions, one of which is held by Adm. William H. Standley. The organization's goal is 10 million or more signatures and it hopes to complete tabulating job by November 29 when the drive will wind up with a rally at New York's Madison Square Garden.
