Korean Kee-san girls

In Korea, is a famous school for “kee-san,” the little singing and dancing girls who are Korea’s counterpart of Japan’s geisha and China’s “sing-song girls.” These little students are learning how to entertain guests aboard a “gabo,” or pleasure boat, on the Daido River in North Korea on May 18, 1935. For thousands of years gentlemen of the Orient have considered such a cruise among the classical and polite forms of amusement. (AP Photo)
