WWII London Call Up

British women were joining up in great numbers in the New Auxiliary Territorial Service, in London, April 11, 1939, as thousands of posters were put up over Great Britain calling both men and women to join up as recruits. These women are getting information at the Duke of York’s headquarters in Chelsea, on types of service they will be called upon to do in case of emergency. Free uniforms are one of the inducements to women recruits. (AP Photo)
