WWII England Damaged Fortress Gets Home

The B-17G Flying Fortress, blasted over Germany, flew home to an English base, June 11, 1944, held together only by three stiffeners and the dorsal fin which collapsed in landing. Two of the crew were killed, two injured and the ball turret gunner trapped. The plane is now repaired and once again flying bombing missions. (AP Photo)
