Prohibition Repeal 1933

Ceremony employed by the Eagles Club of Milwaukee to mark the passing of ½ of one percent beer in favor of the 3.2 brew on April 6, 1933. At the stroke of midnight, the Eagles held up their drinking to give near beer a “decent” funeral. The sign over the coffin reads: “Here lie the remains of ½ of 1 percent. May he stay dead and never come to life again." (AP Photo)
