Flying Flapper

Seventeen-year-old Elinor Smith, aka "The Flying Flapper," established an endurance flying record for women when she landed at Mitchel Field, Jan. 31. 1929 in New York after staying aloft 13 hours, 16 minutes and 45 seconds, the record previously held by miss Bobby Trout of California.
