Words Weekend 2019. EDITORIAL USE ONLY Artistic Director of Words Weekend, Beth Gailimore at the unveiling of a new mural of poet and activist Gil Scott Heron, painted by artist Dan Lish, which marks a collaboration between Words Weekend a brand-new literary festival, and Sage Gateshead's Arches Academy, in Gateshead. Issue date: Thursday September 19, 2019. The project, run by Co-Musica and Sage Gateshead's Learning and Participation teams, teaches the national curriculum via creative practice, for young people not in education, training or employment. This autumn, the work of Gil Scott Heron will be their focus, including beat poetry, proto-rap, jazz and political activism.
