AP Images Content API
Search and Download Images from your Desktop
What is an API?
API stands for Application Programming Interface. It is a general term that refers to software tools that allow for the exchange of information, without human interaction. Paypal is a good example of an API: Paypal uses APIs to allow websites to use their payment processing service without requiring customers to leave their site.
What is the AP Images Content API?
The AP Images Content API allows customers to search and download AP Images content using their own editorial tools and interfaces, without visiting the AP Images website. The API provides access to a broad range of content including:
– AP-owned, member-owned and third-party photos, including the full AP Images archive and outtakes
– GraphicsBank broadcast and animated graphics
– Showcases and other curated photo and graphics collections
How is This Different from Other Ways of Accessing AP Images Content?
Before AP Images Content API was released, customers could only access content via a constantly updated feed of everything available in the last 72 hours (Webfeeds) or via a website (apimages.com). Now with the AP Images Content API, customers can access content within their own editorial tools and software, without the need to step out of those tools and conduct separate searches. It’s all integrated into the customers’ own workflows.
What are the Benefits of the AP Images Content API?

Eliminates need to maintain large storage servers—no longer will users need to download entire databases of image content for the handful of images they may need.
Provides customers with new opportunities to use AP Images content via galleries, showcases and other collections.
