FOOD DISTRIBUTION NEW YORK

U.S. government pork is distributed to jobless residents in New York City, October 28, 1933. Emergency work and relief administration hopes to have 49 stations in operation to distribute about 250,000 pounds of pork. Large quantities of beef will also be shipped to New York after mayoralty candidate Fiorello LaGuardia stated that eating of pork conflicts with the religious creed of many needy New Yorkers.
