California's Golden Bears, collegiate crew champions of the United States during their famous finish rush to win the eight-oared Summer Olympic championship August 13, 1932 for a second successive Olympiad in Los Angeles They rowed down a great University of Pisa crew from Italy by a margin of inches, covering the 2000-meter course at Long Beach, Cal., Aug 13, 1932 in 6 minutes, 37 3/5 seconds, 1/5 of a second ahead of the Italians. Canada, third, and Great Britain, fourth, made it a blanket finish,trailing less than a boat length behind the winner.
