Bonus Army Glassford 1932

Brigadier Gen. Pelham D. Glassford, superintendent of the Washington, D.C., police, got this response when he asked a group of war veterans on the Capitol grounds to raise their hands if they had served in France and were one hundred percent American, July 13, 1932. Glassford, now retired, was there as an army officer. The veterans were at the Capitol urging immediate payment of the soldiers' bonus. Left to right at center: Glassford and Roy W. Robertson, leader of a California group. (AP Photo)
