1950s Home Decor

Patricia Harvey, A.I.D., sits in the Mexican dining room which she designed for the sixth National Home Furnishing Show in New York, Sept. 8, 1954. This is one of several striking treatments among 12 room interiors designed for the show by members of the New York chapter of the American Institute of Decorators. Miss Harvey is seated on a long cocktail table converted into a bench by the addition of four Roman-striped cushions. Behind her is a combination planter and shelf faced with mosaic ceramic tile from Italy. On the rock wall is a copper hood light designed by Miss Harvey. Background colors in the room are bright yellow, raspberry, royal blue and white. (AP Photo/Robert Kradin)
