Nazi Funeral 1938

A swastika-covered coffin, flanked on either side by troops, carries the body of Ernst Vom Rath, German envoy, in the funeral procession to the Rhine Hall in Dusseldorf, Germany, Nov. 17, 1938. Herr Hitler and other high Nazi officials attended the funeral where more than 50,000 people filed past the bier. Vom Rath's murder by a young Polish Jew precipitated a new wave of anti-Semitic feeling in Germany. (AP Photo)
