Mexico Celebrations

Thousands of Mexican school children celebrated the 19th anniversary of the start of the Madero Revolution on Nov. 20, 1929, with parades ordered by President Portes Gil as part of his anti-alcohol campaign. 2,000 children of Ciudad Juarez parade down the 16 of September Street, where there are said to be more saloons per block than in any other street in the world. The banner on the right reads, “If you drink even a little you will go crazy.” The one on the left reads, “Education will redeem the people.” (AP Photo)
