WWII Britain Women Test Instruments

Women with technical ability are being trained by the Women's Auxiliary Air Force to act as instrument repairers at Royal Air Force stations all over Britain. Instruments which are not up to the required standard owing to damage to the plane are given to these W.A.A.F. girls, who test and repair them. This pretty W.A.A.F. girl is testing an automatic pilot, a job where technical knowledge and and skill are essential, at a Royal Air Force airfield somewhere in England, on July 24, 1941. Before joining up she was a teacher of dancing. (AP Photo)
